Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both of whom were lawyers. As a young girl of just five years old, she moved to Oxfordshire and attended the Dragon School. Emma's dream was to become an actor. As a young girl of six, she joined the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch and took lessons on singing, acting, and dance. From the age of 10 the actress took part in and performed the main role in a number of Stagecoach productions as well as school plays. In 1999 casting began to cast Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the movie adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was found by agents through their Oxford teacher. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint after auditions of 8. They were cast as the 3 leads Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. Emma's first appearance on the big screen was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone which was released in 2001. The highest-grossing movie of 2001 it set new records for its opening day opening and its opening weekend earnings. The critics were impressed by the movie and its performances. The well-known British newspaper The Daily Telegraph called her performances admirable. Emma's performance was recognized and was awarded five awards in the film.
