Maggie Grace, born Margaret Grace Denig on 21 September, 1983 in Worthington Ohio is an American actress. She is famous for playing Shannon Rutherford and Kim Mills respectively on ABC's Lost TV show. Maggie Grace, originally from Worthington located in Ohio left high school and moved into Los Angeles after her divorced parents divorced. However, in 2001, despite financial struggles it was possible to land her first major role in the online video series Rachel's Room in the role of Rachel's Room's lead character. The actress was able to secure a Young Artist Award nomination in 2002 for her performance as 15-year-old murder victim Martha Moxley in the television movie Murder which aired in Greenwich. Grace Rutherford, a character she played in Lost from 2004 to 2005 was selected for an Screen Actors Guild Award. The show ended in 2005 and Grace wanted to appear more prominently in film having played opposite Tom Welling in The Fog in 2005. The role she played was Kim Mills opposite Liam Neeson (both in Taken in 2008) in Suburban Girl as well as The Jane Austen Book Club. The actress reprised her character for Taken 2 (2011) and Taken 3 (2013).She also played Alice in Malice in Wonderland, a modern version from the Lewis Carroll novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace returned to the Lost series for the last two episodes, playing Shannon. Grace appeared on Californication's 6th season which ran from 2013 until 2014. She portrays Faith a groupie and her muse to the stars, who catches the attention of Hank Moody played by David Duchovny. She's a Gyllenhaal, the daughter of Stephen Gyllenhaal (director) and Naomi Achs (producer), as well as younger in age than Jake Gyllenhaal. As a teenager her career began in small roles for her father and appeared in Donnie Darko alongside her brother. Later, she was in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (both 2002) and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal's leading roles in Secretary, the romantic comedy-drama erotico and Sherrybaby (a film) earned her nominations for Golden Globe Awards. Following a string of commercially successful movies in 2006 such as World Trade Center she received greater recognition for her performance as Rachel Dawes in the superhero film The Dark Knight (2008). Her performance in Crazy Heart as a mother who has a child received her a nomination to the Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. In the following years, she appeared in comedy and dramas Nanny McPhee as well as the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and The Won't Back Down (2012). Her other roles includes Secret Service agents in White House Down (2013 Action thriller) and actors in Frank (2014 and drama The Kindergarten Teacher 2018) in addition to her role as the kindergarten teacher. Gyllenhaal was first introduced as a director and writer in 2021, with her psycho-drama The Lost Daughter. For this film she was awarded the Best Screenplay Award at the Venice International Film Festival and nominated for an Academy Award.
